Maria Brand - RVN Veterinary Nurse
Maria joined the practice in 2012 as a part-time registered veterinary nurse. She has a keen interest in rabbits, and has 3 of her own. Maria has successfully supported all of our trainee veterinary nurses, helping them through the challenges that come with the diploma course and has a 100% pass rate. She continues to look after our students and is also our veterinary nurse clinic co-ordinator.
Lesley Russell-Dean - Receptionist and Admin
Lesley joined the practice in October 2013 after dropping in to buy some dog chews! She used to have her own business in town, and before that was a senior manager in London, but doesn't miss the commuting at all. She is responsible for all manner of accounts and credit control, and is one of our main receptionists. She is very much a dog lover with a qualification in canine behaviour and two terrible terriers at home.
Lesley is currently studying Shiatsu and re-building a house.
Emily Regan - Receptionist
Emily re-joined the practice at the beginning 2016 as part of our reception team, after briefly leaving the practice to pursue her art career. She is with us on a part time basis alongside her career as a portrait artist, www.emilyjregan.com. We are very glad to have her back with us.
Emily is available to discuss your pet’s preventative healthcare needs and is our Pet Health Club Champion.
Maddie Walters - Receptionist
Maddie is our newest member, joining us in November 2016 as part of the reception team. She has previously worked as an adult care worker but has always wanted to work in a veterinary practice
Maddie enjoys spending time with her horse Tori, and competes in both dressage and show jumping. She has also just adopted a new puppy called Ceaser.

Jee Young Shin DVM, MSC, CertVC, MRCVS - Clinical Director
Young first worked for the practice in 2014 on a temporary basis before being asked to join us full time and take on the Clinical Director role in February 2015, which she agreed to with great enthusiasm. She has previously worked in London for the Blue Cross and has many years’ experience working in busy veterinary practices.
Young is a veterinary cardiology certificate holder and takes cardiac and ultrasound referrals from other surgeries.
Caroline Joy RVN Assoc CIPD - Practice Manager
Caroline qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2000 and has worked in a variety of practices, including an emergency night clinic, before joining 1066 Vets at the very beginning when it opened in 2009. She has previously been head nurse but moved into the Practice Manager role in 2015. Caroline is responsible for the daily running of the surgery and everything that entails!
Caroline is currently studying for her Level 5 Certificate in Human Resource Management and has a special interest in mental health and well-being. She currently has a collection of cats and a skunk.
Kathryn Camburn - RVN Veterinary Nurse
Kathryn joined the practice in October 2012, initially as a receptionist but transferred to the nursing team the following year. She subsequently embarked on the 3-year Veterinary Nursing Diploma course and qualified as an RVN in August 2016. Kathryn has an interest in exotic pets and being involved with the medical nursing cases, and particularly enjoys working with cats.
Hayley Blondrage - Nursing Assistant
Hayley joined the practice in 2014, initially as a Saturday assistant. She has assisted both the reception team and the nursing team during this time, becoming a great asset to the practice. Hayley is currently studying the Animal Nursing Assistant course and will progress on to the veterinary nursing course next year.
John Athanasiou BVetMed MRCVS - Veterinary Surgeon
John hails from New York and joined the surgery in March 2016. He qualified in 2014 from the RVC and previously worked in the far north of Scotland. John has recently completed his 2-year post qualification Veterinary Academy, and is enjoying his veterinary career.
Sharon Terry - RVN Veterinary Nurse
Sharon qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2001, having worked in practice since 1995. She is originally from London, and joined us in October 2016 having left a very busy emergency out-of-hours and PDSA night clinic. Sharon has 2 grown-up children and 4 grandsons and has a background of breeding Ragdoll cats, under the Sonnywood prefix, for over 25 years, also serving as the treasurer for the British Ragdoll Cat Clubs committee at times. She has a very keen interest in all things feline.
Sharon has recently moved to Hastings and has taken up archery, to the delight of her partner.
